Criteria and Cycle

We encourage all potential grantees to review our mission, vision and philosophy, and list of past grant recipients to make sure that your organization is eligible for support from the James Devin Moncus Family Foundation.

The Foundation awards grants annually, in the fall. Our deadline for applications is September 30. For more information on our application procedure, click here.

Generally, the Foundation gives in the range of $5,000 to $25,000. While we will consider requests for larger gifts, these are rare and only under special circumstances. Single-year grants are preferred. Multi-year grants may be considered under special circumstances.

Please note, the Foundation only funds organizations that meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a charity organized under IRC sec. 501(c)3 and qualified under IRC sec. 170(b)(1)(a)
  • Must serve the Acadiana region of southwest Louisiana
  • Must be established in the community and able to provide at least two (2) years of financial statements. (The Foundation does not support start-up organizations.)
  • Must serve the community in the areas of education, healthcare, animal welfare, and/or the arts

Grant funds may be used for operating expenses and program/project expenses. Under special circumstances, the Foundation will fund capital expenses and endowments.

If funded, each grantee must sign a grant agreement outlining the terms and conditions of the grant. Grantees are also required to submit a grant report to the Foundation by September 30th of the year following receipt of the grant. For grant report information, click here (see section VII).

Application Process

The James Devin Moncus Family Foundation awards grants in direct support of our mission and vision. We support non-profits that serve the Acadiana region of southwest Louisiana and limit our support to organizations engaged in education, healthcare, animal welfare, and the arts.

Deadline for grant applications is September 30, and grant decisions are made by November 1. Grantees are notified by November 30, and grant payments are made on or before December 31. Prospective grantees must fit within the Foundation’s giving philosophy and meet all criteria. If you feel your organization is a good fit, please complete our grant application, found here. The Foundation reserves the right to make grants to any charitable organization that falls within the scope of our mission and vision.
